This is a high-performance twin and one of Saito's classics. Dual glow plugs in each cylinder for rapid ignition. Known as a grunty engine that can swing a big prop, high reliability. Light for size and type of engine. Surprisingly smooth for odd-firing twin so long as idle speed is per manual. I found tuning also trouble free compared to other twins, simply tune each carby as normal. Has not lost ignition on either cylinder in flight with the idle set per manual. Using an electric starter I haven't had to hand-prime the fuel lines but this may be required for hand starting. Starts easily. Beautful quality manufacturing, no defects found. Light for this size and design of engine. Very much like "2 singles stuck together", separate valve trains each cylinder, as usual Saito practice for multi's. Comes with 2x straight exhausts, non-muffler type yet not noticeably louder than muffled. A little higher fuel consumption than a 180 single, Unlike most twins this one has very nearly as much power as the equivalent sized single and may even have better low-mid RPM torque, gives the model great pick-up. This may be due to the unusual firing timing, typical of Saito non-boxer (odd-firing, single-throw crank) twins. Light weight cast intergral engine mount also houses twin carb's, which hold tune once set and allow accurate control. Very impressed with engineering and mfg'ing, all accessories are good quality too. Not a beginner's engine and not what everybody wants, but for a 4c twin it's as good as you'll find. No reason I can think of to mark it down. More than happy with Albury's support, pleasure to deal with.
