The CubCrafters Carbon Cub is an upgraded, modern iteration of the classic Super Cub that redefines expectations for backcountry aircraft. It takes the design of the Piper Super Cub and reinvents it using 21st-century materials and computer-aided design to result in an airframe that has fewer parts and weighs less – so it can take off and land in shorter distances and smaller spaces while being able to take the abuse of backcountry exploration. The original Hangar 9® Carbon Cub 15cc was a highly reviewed and popular model due to its modern Cub looks, unexpected aerobatic capability, plus smooth and stable scale flight performance. This updated and upgraded version delivers in all the same ways while also being easier and less time-consuming to assemble, store, and transport. It features the advantages of lightweight, stiff, and strong wood construction that's covered with genuine UltraCote film. Plus, it's available in an ARF version that allows you to install the glow, gas, or electric power system and electronics you prefer, or in a time- and money-saving EP PNP version that's equipped with six factory-installed Spektrum servos, a 6S compatible Avian motor, and a Smart ESC.

Electric Powered Plug-N-Play Completion Level

This Electric Powered (EP) Plug-N-Play (PNP) version comes out of the box with a factory-installed power system and servos that are ready to connect to the compatible receiver of your choice (sold separately). Plus, no glue is required for assembly so you can be in the air as easily and in as little time as possible – typically in just 1-2 hours!

Smart Technology

The Carbon Cub 15cc EP PNP version is equipped with an exclusive Spektrum Avian Smart ESC that can provide a variety of real-time power system-related telemetry data, including motor RPM, current draw, battery voltage, and more – with Smart and non-Smart batteries – via compatible receivers and Spektrum AirWare equipped transmitters (including the DX6e and 8e, DX6 G2/3 and 8 G2, the DX9, NX6 to 20, iX12 to 20, and others) while you fly.

High Performance

The factory-installed Spektrum Avian 5065-450Kv brushless outrunner motor is compatible with 6S 4000–7000mAh batteries to offer a wide range of performance – from scale and sport flying, to performing basic and even aggressive aerobatics!

Wood Airframe

The balsa and lite-ply airframe is lightweight yet stiff and strong. Best of all it arrives mostly factory-assembled and finished in genuine UltraCote film covering. The EP PNP version also includes durable, factory-installed metal-geared and digital Spektrum A6380 servos. And in the unfortunate event you damage any airframe parts or components and can't repair them, a full line of replacement/spare parts is readily available.

Convenience Features

The large, top-mounted and magnetically secured windshield hatch cover makes it easy to install and remove batteries for electric power options, and to access the fuel tank and other components for gas and glow setups. There's also a second hatch for additional electronics access located on top of the fuselage between the two-piece wings that secure quickly and easily with thumbscrews.

Gear Options

Both versions include scale-like, shock-absorbing landing gear with wheels that offer an improved look. Or you can install the optional 1/5th scale wood float set (HAN6030; sold separately) to fly at large ponds and lakes!
