PECO WAGON ''C.E. GARDNER COAL MERCHANT''
QUALITY LINE N GAUGE WAGONS
Peco NR-P427 7 Plank Wagon 'C. E. Gardner Coal Merchant', No.306 | N Gauge
The coal merchant C. E. Gardner of 70 Queens Road, Norwich commenced business around 1927. In 1935 the coal merchant purchased new wagons from Gloucester Railway Carriage and Wagon Company, one of these wagons has been replicated above. Number 306 was the last wagon of six to be purchased by the GRC&W Co.
The wagon features a red body and black ironwork. The text is bold white lettering shaded black which proudly displays the Gardner name. The model also includes the extra detail of printed owner plates on the sole bar.
Private owner wagons abounded prior to nationalisation, they would often be seen far from their base as they were sent to collect raw materials and supplies such as coal, and deliver finished goods. All Peco wagons feature free running wheels in pin point axles. The ELC coupling, whilst compatible with the standard N gauge couplings, keeps a realistic distance between vehicles and enables the PL-25 electro magnetic decoupler to be used for remote uncoupling.
